    Silpoly Vs Silnylon

I've recently been doing a fair amount of MN winter camping with my trusty MJ tarp, which I love...but last weekend it was SUPER windy and although my MJ held strong, I've decided I want a tarp with doors for added protection from the cold winter wind. I know you can order a door kit for the MJ, but I think I want to invest in the Superfly. What is the difference between poly and nylon? My Mamajamba is silnylon and I like it a lot - just wasn't sure which material to order the Superfly in...

Silpoly has less stretch and absorbs less water.

I like my SilPoly and while they stretch less and do not adsorb water they are also lighter but not quite as strong.

Silpoly also has better UV resistance compared to silnylon.

Silnylon is out of stock at Warbonnet so your choice is made for you! Unless you want to wait.

That Bushwack camo is pretty awesome. I'm thinking about putting my Superfly up for sale to get the Bushwack camo.

In the words of Meat Loaf on this Valentine's Day, "Three out of four ain't bad."

SilPoly is "lighter, tighter, can handle an all-nighter" (when raining) - as well as UV resistant.
SilNylon is stronger (but by how much I do not know).

Actually, that's four out of five, but I'll let Meat Loaf do the selling on purchasing a SilPoly Superfly:

Meatloaf to GingeGirl about SilPoly...(cue the music, please)
"Baby we can talk all night
But that ain't getting us nowhere
I told you everything I possibly can..." (lift needle from vinyl, please)

Meat Loaf to SilPoly...(drop needle back on vinyl, crank volume)
"And all I can do is keep on telling you
    I want you
I need you..." (scratch record all to heck because the rest of the song doesn't fit my wacky theme)

Best of luck as you ponder your options.

Disclaimer and disclosure: I received my SilPoly Superfly tarps a couple weeks ago and all my research about Superfly material/construction and my trust in the designers at Warbonnet uphold my belief that I made a good purchase.

I am a big fan on poly over nylon, for me its the kind of half way house between nylon and cuben
The best of both world i think, from a diyer its also a lot easier to sew and crease and build so you get a cleaner finished product.

You could also add a sock instead of a brand new tarp if you like you current one.

I'm wondering why they are using the 20D camo right now, and mention getting the 30D for a later batch to eventually decide on one weight. Is it sort of a testing phase?
