In 2009 I had over 50 nights, it was a good year! As a scout leader I get two weekends a month out with the boys. I had two weeks at a jamboree and another week with family. In 2009 my first hang was Jan. 1. This year I got out Jan.1 and 2nd. I am hopeing to get two weeks in Europe with the scouts at a jamboree this summer and a week long thru hike if I can.

I voted for just outdoors on trips, for me that was well over 30 nights last year, mostly on weekend trips.
Indoor &/or back yard last year, well, I did not hang about 23 nights.
This year so far (the 9th) I have hung 7 nights.

I never thought to count, and I have enough other things to keep track of. I get maybe 10-15 backcountry nights a year, about as many backyard hangs, but mostly I car camp when traveling for work. If anyone wants a recommendation for a good spot to pull off I-81 and hang anywhere between Knoxville and Winchester, let me know!

This was my first year, and I suppose it might have been the novelty aspect, but once I got my system down I hung from April til Nov., on average a total of 5 nights a week.
Either it was on trips, or mostly on my deck.

It might have been the novelty to begin with, but after I got used to it, I slept sooo...... much better than in my bed. Now, the wife she still doesn't understand it, but she'll come around!

Well I'm new to the hammock game but last year I spent about 80-90 night sleeping outside so this coming year will be about that but with a hammock.

i put 30+ and you da man. well geese...i didn't realize the seriousness of which some of you guys hang. especially you full time indoor hangers too. i better at least jerry rig some sort of under insulation for backyard hangs and get my butt in gear.

thanks for the replies everyone, it's really interesting to hear all the feedback.

Backyard (goat field) is where I do most of my experimentation. Warmth, and a toilet are close by. I racked up about 20 nights last year. Currently, I am on day 18 of a consecutive stretch. As for adventure hanging when you hike into some wilderness, eat the fish you catch and convince mountain lions that you are not their food, I scored only 8 nights last year.

Don't have as many trail nights as I'd like but I hope to improve that this year, with my new job and all. Still, adding in backyard testing I put in 20-30 on average. Should be over 30 this year. Just waiting for winter to get to Colorado...it's only been -10F in Monument. Sadly I couldn't hang that night.
