So far This Is what I have planned
In April Fontana Dam to Garenflo Gap
In May Dicks gap to Fontana Dam
In July NH Rt 25 to VT Rt 22
I also have 200 miles left in VA that I'll be doing on long weekend trips
I'll be using a dream hammock free bird, Wildernesslogics summer underquilt, 40 degree UnderGround Top Quilt, Hammock Gear cuben tarp with doors, backpack Zpacks Arc Haul and some Dutch bling. The only thing that will change is my top quilt when I do the smokies depending on weather at time.

I'm hiking the AT in 8 weeks and one day, can't wait! I'll start @ Roan Mountain and hike 300-325 miles. Having hiked from Springer to Roan Mountain in 2 sections, starting April '16, my plan is to finish at Harper's Ferry during Spring '18, and that's it for the AT.

I'll continue to hike with my WBBB, the 20 degree TQ from WB and a new HG 0 degree UQ, the Phoenix. I sleep cold.

Last year, I created a FB page to document my trip. If you're interested, I encourage you to friend me, I'm found as Claudia Wilson (Texas). It would be wonderful to meet some of you on the trail! I've met hammock forum members before and it was fun.

We section hiked Springer to Standing Indian Campground (GA-NC) last July in hammocks. I took my Warbonnet Blackbird XLC, WB SuperFly, and 40* Hammock Gear quilts. My son and our friends took their full ENO setups. Later this year my son will be section hiking NC-TN in his Dutchware Hexon W1.6, Bottom-entry bugnet, HG quilts, and a SuperFly. And this May my wife and I will be section hiking together in the Blackbird XLC and my Dream Hammock Dangerbird with HG quilts.

Good luck on the thru hike

Well my section hike has been modified just a little. The way we go to Catawba Virginia from my house we will be going right by Grayson highlands park where the wild ponies are so we are going to stop there Saturday and do a section of the AT to see the ponies. Monday we are going to head to Catawba Virginia which is a 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive and then do the 27 mile hike from Catawba to daleville. We are not going to go see dragon's tooth since we are going to go see the ponies. Would rather see the wild ponies instead of dragon's tooth.

Attempting to thru NOBO starting March 2:

    WBBB XLC
    HG Burrow 0
    HG Incubator 20
    HG Cuben Fiber w/ doors
Plastic ground sheet made from landscaping plastic

I know some might consider that too much quilt. I would probably switch to a Burrow 20 but I really don't think it's worth spending the extra money at this point. I would rather be safe than sorry anyway. I have a JRB 40 degree TQ that I'm switching out with the Burrow after the smokies. Have a Atmos AG 65 and can fit everything inside (contractor bag with 2 quilts filling up all corners of bottom of pack), with a dry sack with clothes attached on the outside.

Good idea on the ground sheet. We ended up buying some Tyvek, reinforced the corners and added rivets so that they can be staked down or tied like a tarp. Quite handy for meals, dirt/rain/wind protection, and in a pinch a layer of insulation for your feet in your hammock. You can even use it as a "privacy" screen for bathing or making long term soil deposits.

I'll be hiking the Georgia section with my brother and his girlfriend starting March 27. I'll be sleeping in a DIY 10' 1.1 poly hammock with a HG cuben tarp and 20* HG quilts. Plan on going netless but I'll reassess that right before the trip.

Good luck on your hike(s) I tried finding your Facebook but no luck there's only like 45,000 Claudia Wilson's... Maybe I slightly over-exaggerated that.

I will be starting my thru hike from Springer on April the 12th.
If I have time in the coming weeks I'm thinking about making a new hammock with a footbox.
The Hennessy clone I currently use is nice but has a lot of excess material in the width, and that's just annoying.
I have the majority of my gear sorted out and ready to go. Looking forward to getting out there and meeting other hangers.

    Current Gear~
DIY HH with integrated bug net.
    Warbonnet Mambajamba tarp
    DIY 20* 800 down TQ w/overstuff
    DIY 20* 800 down differential cut/shaped 3/4 UQ
    Mountain Smith Ghost Pack
    Total Weight-6lb 12oz.

My wife and I hope to do a couple of sections in NC on the AT this year. We recently completed the GA section in a combination of day hiking and backpacking, slept in our hammocks three different nights on the AT. This year we hope to do Deep Gap NC to Winding Stair, and then Winding Stair to Fontana Dam.
