Cutting pack weight for this one. First and easiest is in the food roll. Being that I'll not be carrying all the goodies that followed me to the woods on the last couple of hangs I'm hoping to be at 15# or less. Spent the day and a few dollars looking through the grocery aisles for those items I haven't tried before. Already culling a few of those items gained with my misspent dollars. Learning all kind of stuff with my scale. Quaker Oats original oatmeal is .5 oz. less than QO Peaches and cream. Then it dawned on me, I've enough reserves on hand to make it thru a weekend, especially considering that I have friends that always bring more than they need.

This will be my first real hike. If its the weekend of the 25th I should be able to make it, Please post details asap. Thank you. Looking forward to doing some hiking.

Hi, oz. Type "Richloam Fire Tower" into Google Maps and it should show up just off SR50, west of Orlando.

We will hike 1/2 mile due east from the tower Friday night.

Oz, to avoid going thru Orlando, you may want to cut over to I-75 down to Brooksville and exit to SR 50 east. Be sure to check Google maps! Carrying extra water is probably more important than extra clothes or extra food!

Bummer....I was hoping it would slide a weekend earlier. I'll be headed for the Foothills Trail in SC that weekend. I'll be hanging though so I'll be there in spirit. I've got to keep up the fight with my ground dwelling friends....maybe even convert one this trip.
