Okay, it's official, the hike at Richloam Fire Tower is on for Friday night March 24 thru Sunday, March 26. According to the Forest Service Office the water levels are moderate at this time, but we still have about 4 weeks to go before the hike. I will call them back on Monday, March 20 for a water update. There is no cost associated with this hike, but for your safety the Forest Service suggest everyone wear Orange since it is Spring Turkey Hunting Season and the couple of times I've made this hike we've run into hunters. For directions to the Fire Tower parking lot, just Google Richloam Fire Tower. We'll hike in about 1/2 mile on Friday night. A water faucet is available at the Tower parking lot so we can top off before the hike starts on Saturday morning. I should be there about 12-1 in the afternoon on Friday.

Sounds good O-Boy. I'll make a run up that way before the hang to check the water level in the Little Withlacoochee at SR50. Looking forward to a light and long hike for the weekend. Too many hangs just sitting around shoving food toward the face lately. Not that those aren't fun. Your weight loss was impressive and reminded me that I've reloaded the 25# that I had lost last year.

Hi Marty! Back to our cars at the fire tower. The hike is a big loop. As I remember, the hike back is a bit longer than the hike to camp.

Thanks olddog, I appreciate you noticing my weight loss, I still need to loss another 10 or so! emcee is pretty funny, if the weather keeps up like the past several months, most of us older guys will be dragging butts and possibly dropping packs on Sunday.

Looking forward to trying out my new shoes on this one! You won't catch me doing the 16 miles in sandals again.
