    Howdy from central Texas!

Just wanted to drop a line to introduce myself. I've always wanted to do an AT Thru hike but I've got a family and a job (and a desire to keep it that way ) so I'm going to to do the next best thing and knock it out a couple hundred miles at a time starting in June'17. I live in North Austin and have mostly been practicing on the Goodwater Loop around Lake Georgetown for the last couple of months. I've been trying out different gear and methods and generally been trying to get the "hang" of this whole hammock thing.

P.S. Big thanks to Shugemery for your Youtube videos - they've been really helpful to this hammock NEWB!

Welcome from San Antonio! We have a great group of hangers here in Texas that have organized hangs often. Take a look at wwwDOThammockhangersDOTnet where alot of the Texas hangers post at. Sorry for not being able to give you a clickable link, the forum owner here at hammockforums has to decided to censor that particular site.

I don't think that's true at all. There are lots of Texas hangers that frequent both sites. The truth is that there is a lot of experience and information on both sites. HYOH...

What's not true? I didn't mean to infer that we don't post on both sites, just that alot of the Texas hangers use that site as well. As for the censoring, I'm afraid it is true, try it yourself....

Well then, if true, we can expect your post to be deleted because you mentioned that site. We will see...

Huh?? No one said anything about deletion. Perhaps I'm not making myself clear, and if so, I apologize. I simply apologized for not being able to give that link since when you try typing that particular link to the other hammock camping forums it shows up as www.*******************. It gets censored, it wont get anything deleted or banned. I hope that explains what I said, feel free to PM me for any further conversation concerning this as this is not the place. Welcome to the forums Pointer!
