I bet it's just the same as hammocking a few inches off the ground after you close your eyes...except for the constant swaying, the increased windspeed, hearing the birds chirp under you...

...but don't attempt to jump out of the hammock half asleep for your midnight sprinkle... on the other hand, you don't need a gatorade bottle!

that's cool as heck. for hunting it's a decent idea but it would be hard to get a steady shot with a rifle. forget about bowhunting from it. decent idea though for rifle hunting. i'd practice a little first. and wear a safety harness for sure.

I guess that depends on the wind and the tree too.

Who knows, maybe even bow hunting is possible.

The mangolian hordes of Ghengis Khan were incredible archers who few in any time before or since could have rivalled. They trained to fire from horseback much like the Cherokee hanging off the side of the horse, riding backwards etc to use the horse as protection against their foes.
A BASIC skill they had to learn to survive in the mongolian army was to time their release when all four of the horse's hooves were off the ground.

A mongolian general was once credited with hitting a target at 400 yards with one of their hand-made, bone/sinew/wood shortbows!!!

If their regulars can do stuff like fire from a horse at full gallop while hanging off the side of the horse! I'm sure with practise someone could be accurate enough from a hammock.

It certainly will be more challenging than your typical archery though. Hard core for the hard core if you will.

How to tell a Black Bear from a Grizzly?

The Black Bear will chase you up the tree.
The Grizzly will just knock the tree down.

The thing that gets me about Grizzlys is that they seem to replace a lot of the the "Chuck Norris" in Chuck Norris jokes, and make them sound serious.

For example:

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for a Grizzly.

Grizzlys don't sleep. They wait.

Grizzlys are the reason why Waldo is hiding.

If I knew how to do that type of rigging, I would love to do it. Seems like it would be beneficial in brown bear country.
