I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.
It's great to have the whole family together camping.
We started out in a tent also, and have moved our way up through several iterations of pop-ups, fifth wheels and settled on our travel trailers. We belong to club and have it there full time. Its really not like camping anymore, almost like a second home. This is why I have the hammock bug, so we can get back to real camping on occasions. keep up the good work. It's always easier when the spouse is on board, and a little more expensive. I think I will have more into 2 complete hammock setups then most of our first tents or campers. (I still have the youngest son to outfit yet.....)

Great job! You should start a speaking tour in "how to get your wife in the woods". I hope she has a great time in April. Girls only hikes/trips are awesome!

Chase your dreams without fear or hesitation!
I think in my wife's case she is "fairly outdoorsy" but the driving force is that she seems to want to do it as a family or be a part of the trips.
Once I started taking my son on overnight backpacking trips (only a couple so far simple overnight trips) and spoke about also bringing our daughter she felt her participation natural at that point....
Time will tell - initial signs are good that she will enjoy it more over time...but I was low pressure about it..."if you enjoy good...if not no pressure"
Also lurking right now for her a touring kayak for camping, day trips, rv'ing trips etc

Laurie is more outdoorsy than I (and that's saying something) but with friends that are "on the fence" I always try and make them as comfortable as possible; good food and drink, activities (sight-seeing, canoeing, just sitting in a chair by a warm fire reading), whatever. I also don't expect them to do anything, no cooking or cleaning or anything unless they offer. LOL we know a couple that love camping with us, but when they took their children on their own she had a horrible time, gotta keep him or her happy.
we should start a separate thread on how to entertain "non-campers" out in the woods

Excellent way to get everyone involved. I definitely find I sleep better and later in the morning in my hammock. My girlfriend sleeps even later, but last weekend she actually got up before me and made me coffee to enjoy in me hammock. What a gal!
Great pictures, great story and great memories. You did the thing right man! Kudos.
Thats awesome!!! Now you will just need to start the DIY hammocks for the kids.
When the wife asks, I simply say "Shug made me do it".
That rocks man!
