I just made a simple mini GE hammock from leftover material. I just attach it to my ridge line at the moment. I was thinking of using my pack cover to do the same thing or making a hammock seat to fit all 3 functions. I've seen them advertised and seen a few DIY versions here as well. seems like a convenient multi function item that isn't hard on the DIY scale.

By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...
I made one from the left over Hyper D. It hangs above my feat and I can store my clothes or other needed items in it. Saves getting up or reaching for the pack to get stuff. Here it is filled with my winter gear.
I attach it to my ridge line with some modified soft shackles Klemheist-ed to the RL.

Best I could do without getting outside to setup my whole rig. I also hang mine next to my hammock using the hammock suspension as tie off points.

I've got one of those. now it will do a little more than just end up as a ground sheet! Thanks michigandave!
Signature suspended
The one I already made is for the ridge line and smallish like the one in Rais'n hammocks post. The one I am thinking of making next would be used on it's own suspension just under the hammock, and would be large enough to sit in when slung from trees on its own. Making one to use over an 85L pack wouldn't be unrealistic.

Just some standard 1.6 ripstop nylon that I treated with silicone spray. If it was done right you could certainly use it as a seat, I did not intend to do that with this one so it's just a single stitch hem and probably won't last long if I sat in it. I pack a little trifold stool that I can deploy in a blink of an eye for sitting, if my hammocks not up.
