    ricktote

the ricktote is the direct result of the failure of the sledtote.i usaully truck camp, and have a tote with me.i really like to have one next to the hammock when i winter camp.first i can stand in it when taking off boots and pants, then enter into the hammock without getting my feet near the snow.my coat, pants boots.and whatever i do not want in the hammock all get shut up in the tote, where they will stay dry and snowfree.before you stand in a tote in the snow, make sure it will not slide and dump you on the ground.
so i wraped a cord around my tote tied some rope to that and set off.i learned my tote pulled fairly good, but it pulled even better on its side, and was not bad upside down.predictably it tipped over constantly.even though it is covered snow will work its way inside if draged a ways.after cleaning out the snow i spied a small ironwood tree...
i only pulled it about 3/4 mile in the ricktote configure,i thoght it moved along well and never tipped again.it went through the woods good.i am going to try it again, going for 7' poles instead of 6. since i was carrying my shotgun i only had one arm free,so what i did was sling the rope,(that was tied to the tote)over my right shoulder, then hooked it around the left pole.this freed up my left hand and held the tote up,allowing it to be pulled with very little effort of my right hand.

thanks for the kind feedback on my trip talk.

Rictote with gun scabbard ++. Make up a diy gun scabbard or tie on a gun case, to your ric poles. Keep the barrel pointed down and away. Within reach, if game jumps out in front of you.
