Post First DIY - (another) Costco Down Quilt

My son has been asking to come out on a trip with me, he's 6 BTW. So, I thought what a better time do try my hand at a DIY project. I picked up a blue Costco down quilt and have been lurking here and watching many YouTube videos trying to figure out what to do. Finally, I just went for it and built him a top quilt. I ripped the seams to give me 12, 70" channels. I shook all the down to one end of the quilt and cut it down to 45". Roll hemmed the cut edge then sewed up the footbox. All-in-all I am pretty happy with the way it turned out!

56" length, 44" at the shoulders and 21" at the feet. There is about 1.5" of loft and in the original stuff sack it comes in at 351 grams.

Can't wait to begin more projects now!

It was really not that bad. Hardest part was that rolled hem but as long as you pin it all up you should be good.

    Nice job.

unfortunately, I've been unable to score any of these. I have a set I made from an old comforter that the wife said was getting to ratty and it was so warm I didn't want to get rid of it... So it's now a TQ/UQ set. I also have a snugpak jungle blanket TQ and and a snugpak underquilt.

I ordered the RSBTR frontcountry quilt kit. I haven't started on that yet cuz I'm not sure how long I want to make it... I'm considering leaving it the max size which would be 60" x 108" to use it in the house and to be able to fold the foot end under my feet/legs when required and still have it up to my neck.

    Great job, thanks for posting.

Costco has them on sale and you can buy without a membership; just costs a few bucks more. https://www.costco.com/Double-Black-...100314979.html
