It would be a 9 day trip for me.

    My hat's off to you.
I think to a large extent, hiking long distances is less about athleticism and more about motivation. After 15 miles, everybody is going to be a little tired and sore, maybe have a blister or two. The trick is to keep motivated enough to keep going, particularly if you know there is another gruesome climb ahead of you...

I plan to do between Laurel Valley to Whitewater Falls. Plan to get there late Fri. and hike to a campsite then start hiking Sat. early, finish up late Sun. or early Mon.

HB and I plan on a few sections this summer. Pics and a trip report would be appreciated.

    Hope you're having fun!

eaglej - if you took your Foothills Trail trip this weekend like you said I hope you did not get the insane heavy rain we got in Greenville on Sunday & Sunday night/ Monday AM... The bottom fell out several times w/ lightning and booming thunder. Hopefully the trail weather was better up that way.

Sorry guys I didn't make the Foothills hike, I section hiked the AT from Massie Gap to I-81 instead. I figured since I was going solo it would be more prudent to be on a more heavily used trail.
I hiked 5 miles Friday evening 28 Sat. and 12 Sun. to to finish up. Trying to recoup today, my calves and feet feel like they've been thru a meat grinder.
I'm still interested in doing the Foothills section, so anyone thinking of going keep me in mind.
