Nightly Hangers - I need you input

    Hello all,

Been absent from the community for a few years... Long story. But, I am about to make the leap to nightly hanging. I'm looking at buying a hammock stand to put in my new house. This one to be specific.
    traditional-hammock-stands-and-accessories.jpg
It is only 12ft, the 15ft model won't fit in the room. The description says it will hang a 10-11 foot hammock, but I think that is based on the netted bridge hammocks they sell there. I'm well aware of the safety guidelines; the need for climbing biners and low stretch line such as Amsteel. (this is not my first hang) My biggest concerns are...

    1) Will this actually be large enough for a typical 10ft hammock; like my Blackbird?
    2) Should I swap the bent eye hooks it comes with for forged ones?
    3) Any other comments or concerns you have are welcome.

Welcome back and welcome to the full time indoors hammock sleep. You'll likely have to adjust the suspension setup slightly but you should be good. Make sure there's an easy return policy before you pull the trigger on it. Just in case you can't get the lay right. I know I won't ever go back to a traditional bed.

    Bon chance.

I would say it'd be big enough, because your RL on the hammock will be shorter than 12' no matter how long your hammock is I suppose the biggest question is how tall is that stand? I have a stand in the spare bedroom that works well enough, not nearly as pretty tho' and I found that "loopy slings" (basically an adjustable loop) work the easiest for the indoor setup as the min length is shorter than a whoopie or ucr and you don't have to make a fixed loop to an exact dimension.

I'm not sure I have an opinion on the hardware, but my guess is if its included and they're selling to the general public then it ought to be strong enough.
    Good luck,

I've never seen or tried one of those stands but it looks more like something my wife wished I was using in our bedroom other than my turtle dog stand for looks. I just hope it's high enough off the floor that you don't have to craw out which would screw my back up. Then there's the thing with being able to hang your feet higher for the perfect lay, I'm not sure that possible with that stand? Good luck keep us informed.

It's plenty long enough for a 10", 11' or even a 12' hammock. I'd be more worried about the height. It needs to be a minimum of 5' tall. 6' would be better.

I have been full time for almost three years. My first thought is, do you really want that beautiful (but large) piece of furniture in your chosen room full time? Has attaching from the walls been considered? My second thought, is that something I would want to fall on to? In three years I have been dumped a couple of times, equipment and coordination sometimes fail. I keep a standard blue pad under my hammock, "just in case." My apologies, I don't intend to sound negative. Good luck with the transition, I (and my back) love being full time.

Full time sleeper, not a stand guy myself. Room is small and I enjoy unhooking one end of my hammock during the day moving it out of the way to open the room back up. Stand would still be in the way.

I would think that stand would put your butt almost on the floor. I would have trouble getting up from there.

I'm hanging from the walls. I like to be able to unhook and open the room up also. 6 months solid for me. Spare bedroom is now hammock room...
