This might be an interesting issue for moderators, given what is legal and illegal in various states. In Oregon, we are allow a legal medicine that is not available in all states. As an old dude, I find a cookie or short draw at night helps me sleep better. In fact, even in a hammock, I only get up once or not at all in the middle of the night. And no, there are no "accidents" if I don't get up. I do make sure not to tank up on liquids at dinner time.
So, on the old person theme. One thing you young'ens have to look forward to is as you get older, you'll find that "hit the pillow and be out all night long" type of sleep isn't always available. And because you aren't sleeping as soundly, maybe its easier for internal conditions to wake you up instead of waiting until morning.
I mostly sleep outside on the porch. But I've found that in a hammock or in a bed, under normal (non-medicated) conditions, I get up in the night as often in both cases.
