I wanted to share my latest little project. for me its a faster way to put up my speer winter tarp.
it takes just a few things to make.
here is the list:
1. 1/2 in. wide strap, (i got some from strapworks 40 ft. for around 8 bucks). Just judge the size of your normal trees and make your tree huggers accordingly. Im using about 6 ft per tree hugger.
2. 4 welded rings, smallest ones I could find at ace hardware store. $.80 each. (2 per tree hugger). they are smooth and round.
3. 2 cheap (not for climbing) carebiners. (small ones)

I used about 6 feet of 1/2 inch strap. Sewed a loop with two small rings in one end, and sewed a loop for a carabiner in the other. this way I can wrap the tree hugger around the tree and clip the biner. On the other end of the tree hugger is where I connect the ridge line for my tarp. I use a garda hitch in the two rings. so, the process of putting up my tarp is, wrap snap, wrap snap, pull(then a quick stopper knot). and then I tie out my corners.

Im not afraid to admit it, I like hugging trees.
