    TATO STAND HELP

Looking for Tips & Tricks on how to set up, take down, and use the Tato Stand:

My first set up was entertaining; I couldn’t get the CL to thread through from the bottom and had to use a small diameter stiff line to assist in threading it through. Does it get easier or do some of you use a cheater line to draw up the CL to hook it?
What’s your best suspension on the stand, Whoopies, Buckles, CL’s? Do you use the supplied carabiners or have you replaced them with your own. Line system to hang a tarp, do you pitch on top or under ridgepole?
Is an ENO too short, is a RR too long? What hammocks are you using?
I know it defeats the transportation feature but has anyone used 7’ sections of conduit to raise the height?

Thanks for any and all help…

Do you have a picture of your CL you are asking about? I have the older unit which I believe is the same as the new head unit and the CL came pre-installed and is left in place.

Sorry, unable to take a picture. This is the new stand and the CL is pre installed in the top bar. Its just a short CL but because of its softness it won't feed from the bottom easily

Yes it gets easier. I had a tough time my first try in threading it thru. The center bar is 13 ft so u should be fine in a RR or eno. I've strung a blackbird, trail lair and enos on it. All three different sizes.

They must have changed something. Mine has a pre-installed loop for the hammock and another smaller one for the tarp. I didn't do anything to set up except cut the poles.

Same here but from the posts it sounds like where ours have the top pole ends that are attached to the CL they must have to thread the CL through the top pole that already contains the top pole ends.

When I first got the stand, I had to pinch the CL together quite a bit to stiffen it up then feed it through the hole and push it up far enough to open the loop a bit then lower it on the hook. It now feeds easily and I can usually hook it on the first try. I hang my tarp under the ridge pole.

I use two GE hammocks with the stand....a 10.5' and 11' and both work great. I use the supplied carabiners and it took a bit of experimenting with the suspension to get the hang I wanted. I do wish the stand was a bit taller but not at the expense of portability. On the foot end I use a CL on the hammock attached to a Dutch Biner then a doubled up CL attached to the supplied carabiner. On the head end, I use a CL on the hammock attached to a Dutch Biner attached to a doubled up Whoopie sling (this allows me to make some adjustments). A "regular" length Whoopie was too long. On the Whoopie sling, I hook both ends (loops) to the same carabiner and then hook the created other end to the supplied carabiner. This is just what works for me...good luck!
