That is the coolest piece of gear I've ever seen. Love Van Gogh
Here are some diagrams of how I built the tarp.
#1. I started with two 4yd panels and one 2yd panel. I cut the 2 yd panel in half to make two 1 yd panels. Then I sewed the panels together 1yd+4yd+1yd+4yd with flat felled French seams. Say that 3 times fast.
#2. I took 3 yds of black 1.1 silpoly and cut it into three 3yd long strips (1/3 the width of the fabric) and sewed those together end to end with flat felled French seams. Then, I sewed the black panel to the Starry Night panel with a flat felled French seam.
#3. Next, after trimming the black panel evenly with the SN panel, I sewed the two ends of the whole large panel with ...another flat felled French seam.
#4. Now that all of the panels were sewn together, it could finally be cut into the tarp shape. I folded the looped panel so that the two 4yd panels were back to back and laid it out to mark the tarp shape. I made the ridgeline start at the 1yd/4yd seams and marked down to the corners of the black panel. Then marked the cat cuts for the doors. I used a 2" catcut since silpoly does not require a catcut.
#5 (no image) I cut out the tarp, sewed the LAST flat felled French seam for the ridgeline (this required I seam seal. Had I not sewn it flat, I wouldn't have had to seal.) Then, added the reinforcements by "gluing" on scape fabric with silicone. Next, I sewed rolled hems on the entire perimeter of the tarp. I sewed on Beastee D-rings on the ridgeline tie outs, line locks on the side tie outs and pole pockets. I added snaps to the doors. I seam sealed the ridgeline, but did not worry about any of the other seams since they run vertically (SN) or are low (black).
#6 (pics in OP) I took it on its maiden hang and it performed exactly as I had hoped. I can stand under it, it reaches the ground, the poles open it up inside and the doors provide complete wind coverage and privacy.
I hope this helps if anyone else has some of the panel fabric. I'm happy to help any way I can.
