First DIY: tree straps too short, Whoopies too long. What do you carry?

Just finished my first DIY from 1.6 HyperD. I had fun making the Whoopie Slings and quickly made some tree straps. I did 6ft Whoopies and 6ft Tree straps. Whoopies are too long for where I hang my kids hammocks and tree straps are too short for the bigger trees that are farther apart.

I made too many assumptions. What lengths of slings and straps to carry?

Currently hanging larksheaded to atlas straps. Think I'm still too low, feel like my head or feet will roll out.

Have you tried a strap and buckle suspension. You only have to worry about not having a long enough strap when using these.
    Along these lines.

    That looks great!

A cinch buckle setup with twelve foot straps makes things pretty easy, but heavier. Also maybe try ucr's instead of whoopies. They require less amsteel and can take up less footage. If you've got large trees, six foot webbing can barely be enough around the tree.

Suspensions are truly a hyoh type thing.

    Nice work on the hammock!

How do you feel about the 1.6 hyperd fabric for comfort?

    Are you using a ridgeline?

My straps are long. Like 12'. Since I got rainbow tree straps, I have abandoned whoopies.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

I carry 12 ft tree straps, but here in Louisiana we often have monster pine trees that require that length. Standard Dutch whoopie slings. Not sure of the length. Often find that I have too much line and have to be picky about tree spacing.

I was going for cheap and light, I may do buckles or hooks later on.

No ridge line yet. This is literally my first time in an adult sized hammock. Lol. I have no idea what I'm doing. I would like to add one once I fix this suspension mess.

I live in the PNW and carry a modular setup due to the size of old growth trees: 15' tree straps, if those get eaten up by the tree I soft shackle on a 6' tree strap or UCR. When not using the UCRs I tie the tree strap to the continuous loop with a becket hitch.

I used the measurements from a YouTube video but I think there is too much space between my buries. I'm too far south in Louisiana for pine trees but the gums in my yard are more than 6 ft around. Didn't even consider pines. Blurg.
