Help Fixing My Full Length Synthetic UQ

I'm starting to get all my gear ready for another season and I've been tweaking the suspensions on my quilts. I've got my down throw UQ pretty well dialed in but I'm still having problems with my full length climashield UQ..

This quilt is 50in X 78in, rectangle shaped, and has side channel and secondary line-lock suspensions. I'm having problems with an air gap under my calves and knees. I've partially addressed it by pulling the suspensions tighter and with shock cord over the ridgeline, but I don't like it and it's one more thing I have to constantly fiddle with.

I did open it op once to shorten it, and now I'm to the point now where I'm getting ready to open it all up again and make some serious modifications. I'm thinking that the rectangle shape is to blame for the air gap. Looking at pictures of full length vendor quilts, they seem to change shape for the foot section. What I'm considering is tapering the foot end of my quilt something like this:

Would this "fix" it or is there something else that might help?

    All suggestions greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem, got fed up with it, and added clews. Very happy with it now.

My quilt is about the same dimensions as yours and already has a taper. The taper does not seem to prevent air pockets. The fundamental problem is the slack down the middle. See article above for better explanation.

Let us know how it works out.

Is the quilts main suspension tight, does it hang really high next to your ridge line with nothing in the hammock? It should.

I may give it a try if all else fails. I'm not sold on the clew suspension idea, partly because it doesn't look like it seals well on the ends.

That's where I started along with watching Shug videos. I've played with the whole range form loose and barely touching the hammock to so tight that the hammock becomes uncomfortable.

I wonder if you put some quilt hooks about where your knees are, if that would help. Maybe on a bit of shock cord before there attached to the quilt. As kind of a mid way down second suspension. Now I'm just guessing there, and you may still find a better solution.

It seals fine. Mine is field tested. If you don't like the cosmetic scalloping affect, you can leave the cinch cord in that you likely already have. They are compatible.

Hadn't considered that. I will read up some more on a clew suspension and keep an open mind.

Clews absolutely work on full length quilts.

Would tapering the quilt help at all?

Duct tape it and find out.

As I mentioned, mine has a taper but the problems remained.
