I recently went up to the UP for a snowshoeing trip with a couple of friends. We didn't hang, but instead rented a cabin. They have cabins and yurts set up with firewood, pots and pans, utensils, and other amenities. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7...8770--,00.html A lot of the trails in that area are groomed for cross country skiing which makes it easier to walk. If you are into cc skiing this would be the place for you. We spent two days there enjoying the snow and views of all kinds. It was fun building and towing pulks rather then carrying all of our gear in packs. This was my second time up there with Dave, who I converted to a hanger on a past trip. It will most likely become an annual trip for us. It may evolve into a several day trip with a night out hanging, but I got to say the cabins are like being in a five star hotel as far as backpacking goes. What a blast it is to play in the cold and deep snow of the north and still be able to be dry and warm at night. We didn't see anyone in the back woods during our time out. We spent a little time ss on un-groomed trails. Here are a few pics from the trip. http://picasaweb.google.com/GeorgeG6...M_Q04Okv82MAQ# http://picasaweb.google.com/GeorgeG6...nowshoeTrip02# By the way, if someone could explain to me how to post a link with a word like "here" rather then a whole long address it would be appreciated
