In looking up the GoogleMaps image, "GolfCourse Road" is south of Route 11 and south of the gorge. It has a nice looking area for us. I had not realized that state parks had gotten that much land but I am glad they did. I have been by that site many times and, if memory serves, it will be excellent for us to camp. We will have to get water from up at the visitor center I imagine. I shall be bringing several five gallon containers from home with me.
All of that is correct. I spoke with the Park Manager today. This will be car camping. We can drive right in to a group campground.

He will be sending me a map and I will try to post that. The campsite is about a mile up the road from the visitor's center, then down a gravel road.

I know one thing, I'm looking forward to this hang!
I dunno why but the thought of helping to set up the state park, at THE Natural Bridge really excites me. We'll be doing something that will last.

I'm trying to get the three girls to commit to this. Although I'm guessing it will be hot it's worth it to help set up the new park.

We appreciate any and all help. There will be plenty of work to do for all different ages and levels. I do know that the trail markers went out from my location yesterday and that marking trails is on the list of things that we can help with. This makes a great service project for students. They can get credit for the hours logged. And, remember, they are not expecting us to work eight hours a day here. They're asking us to give them some of our time and elbow grease. In return, they are letting us stay for free at one of the most amazing places In Virginia. There will be plenty of free time.

I'm sure Corey will update us as more details become available.

Yep, what she said. If you haven't been on one of our "service hangs " before, we arrive Friday afternoon/ evening. Do projects Saturday morning, into early afternoon, usually knocking off around 2...ish. and then, until Sunday around noon, is just fun time.
None of the work is what I would call, "hard." I think the toughest thing we have ever done was some post hole digging. That was done by teams who traded off every time they got tired. Honestly, I think we put more effort into gathering fire wood than we do any one task for the park but it's fun. At least, I find it to be. Where else do you get to go camping and have a hand in actually taking care of the park? I mean others talk about it, we DO it!

Oh, don't forget the Old Shenandoah float/ hang, coming up in three weeks.
No work on this one. Unless you count paddling your canoe or kayak! 😀

Oh, I was following that one too, I know the wife and daughters would love that. Unfortunately, I'm leaving on a motorcycle trip next week and will be getting back just before that float trip. I'm not sure we can swing the float trip right after the bike trip. I really wish my schedule would have worked for that trip we have two canoes that haven't been in the water for a while.
We've been to the natural bridge years ago and the younger daughter doesn't remember much, she's 20 now so it must have been a few years. Both girls are big in service, the older just graduated and was president of the service fraternity as well as chaired many trips to help around the world. This natural bridge service is what they do. Heck, they might come without me anyway.
