    My first thread injection project

A big "thanks" to the forum members who convinced me to give DIY a go. With no lessons other than this forum, and online videos, and absolutely zero experience, I ordered the $10 DIY kit from RSBTR, and took the plunge.

The result was my first stuff sack, shown here holding my 2T's hammock chair from Dutch. While I have seen far better, it is good enough to encourage me to continue.

    Looks very good!

I started off a year ago with no sewing experience and no machine. I asked around looking to buy one and was given a machine. I now have a complete tree-to-tree hammock camping system: Tree straps, whoopies, continuous loops, hammock, structural ridgeline, bug net organizer, peak bag, double-ended hammock stuff sack, Hex tarp with cat cuts, stuff sack for tarp, continuous ridgeline for tarp, and guy outs - all DIY. I even installed my own "tree" since my real trees in the backyard were too far apart!

    It's addicting I tell ya!

Oh no it's to late! Like lay's chips you can't do just one project. Looking good so far. Something about using gear you made that is so satisfying.

Nice job!! Yeh, you are screwed just like the rest of us! Try the double ended stuff sack using the directions of RSBTR's now! I want too order that $15 kit from them. What a super deal it is! Don't forget that Tyvek is a pretty fun way to make prototypes and practice.

Nice Job Skater! You're next step is to make a hammock. I think you will find that it is not much more difficult than the stuff sack you made. (Just a few longer runs of thread!) Rolled edges take a little bit of practice but are easy to do if your patient! I started with this kit from RSBTR and found it to be pretty easy. From there you'll know what you need and you can start making your own material choices. I just ordered a Hex12 tarp kit from them and I'm a wee bit nervous about it.

    Yeah, it's already on order.

I can already see my future. "Hi, my name is Skater, and I am a threadaholic...".
