    Poles on the Clarks

I may be missing something but for the life of me I can't figure out why Clark has the fiberglass poles with the shock cord on the outside. Why not the aluminum with the enclosed shock cord. At the premium you pay it would seem to make sense. I have a DH Dangerbird which is fantastic but may be interested in TX270 down the road but cant get over the poles. Like I said I'm sure there is a reason but haven't seen it addressed in HF or youtube.

I have the NX270. It's the best hammock ever....to me. I haven't figured the poles out either...but they work well enough.

The fiberglass is lighter and more flexible than aluminium would be. I don't think that the diameter of the poles are large enough to have the shock cord enclosed. Anothe benefit to the way they have it is that if you don't like the shock cord and want it like they use to be you can take them off. Or if you have the old style and want the shock cord pieces you can order just them and put them on..

I never thought of this but I think it's because the aluminum won't bend to make the proper arc the way the fiberglass would. Also as someone pointed out, the diameter of the poles would have to be larger if the shock cord was on the inside.

Im with you on the question. Those fiberglass poles with cords on the outside are a pain to deal with when putting through the sleeves.
