Amazing job on your new gear.
I used to DIY but my patience is better used on other projects
I have since decided if something is too maddening, I'll pay someone else for a better product.
But who knows? Maybe you will end up being a thread injector extraordinaire!!
Well done!

I've used the tape for vinyl with both Silpoly and silnylon. They both work for for the long hems that I use it for. I just replenished my original order and the new tape I received now does leave some residue on the needle on my machine. It doesn't effect the sewing, but I do clean it off with a cotton ball and alcohol after every long seam.
They may have changed the adhesive or applied more to the tape. It still works well for me.

I'm not sure where I developed the patience for this, but an alternative to basting tape is a basting stitch. I cut the curve/hem/whatever as precisely as possible, set the machine for a fairly long stitch, and just fold once by hand, keeping the spacing regular. Then just do it again with whatever the appropriate smaller stitch. With basically zero prep, it takes me less time than pinning and/or hemming, or remembering late and dropping everything to go buy basting tape. Or waiting for a presser foot that I'll probably order wrong.
