First Storm in Hennessey Expedition Asym

So I slept in my Hennessey in a storm for the first time last night, and I got a little wet, which wasn't a big deal. I plan on buying a bigger tarp cause the stock diamond tarp wasn't great. The little bit of wetness didn't bother me as much as how loose the fly got once I got into the hammock. The incessant flapping in the wind was incredibly annoying. Should I set up a separate ridge line for my tarp so it stays tight when I get in? Any suggestions?

If you get a separate tarp then go with a continuous ridge-line and guy that tarp down tight in stormy weather.

Great thanks for the help! I'm going to try that. It seems like I would have even less coverage with the tarp though, because the hammock is farther under it.

Just pull the tarp down tight enough that it's only about 1" off the hammock when you get in for the night. The sides will be almost vertical, but you'll get good coverage and still have decent airflow.

The asym tarp obviously isn't going to give quite as much coverage as a hex regardless of how you hang it.

Many of us utilize a separate tarp with our Hennessy's. I use a Hennessy Hex tarp. I can hang the tarp up first and stay dry while I hang the hammock and get out gear.
    Thanks,

Use some bungee cord (does not need to be all bungee) on the side guy outs and DON'T attach the tarp to the hammock suspension. Attach the tarp to the trees using a separate line so it is independent of any changes that occur in your hammock suspension when you get into the hammock.

I tried the Ultimate Hang method with bungies, tried the separate ridge line too, but decided that the postage stamp Expedition tarp just wasn't big enough so I got a bigger one (separate ridgeline).

The video from Derek has only one flaw, he did not compensate for static stretch, aka the first time you stretch a rope when not used for a period of time.
I camped 10 years with a hh and diamond tarp, and rigged once, climbed in, bounced for the stretch, got out and rigged very tight, this worked very well.
I did 2 mods, one on the ropes, i use aerocleats, no more knots... And a aluminium spar under the tarp from tip to tip, max view and max coverage.
