HH Hex Fly - Ridgeline Modification

After recently purchasing my Hennessy Hammock Expedition Asym Zip and 70D Hex Fly, I have been wondering how easy; or possible, it would be to install a permanent ridge line into the Hex Fly, whilst maintaining the stock cord & hook for suspending the Fly individually or from the prusik knots on the hammock suspension lines?

    My suspension setup currently consists of;

    - 96" HH tree hugger straps (soon to be replaced with Eno Atlas Chroma Straps)
    - (Foot end) Clog Climbing UK Super 10 Carabiner & 2x Grey Wild Country Nitro Carabiners (soon to be replaced with rappel rings)

    - (Head end) Clog Climbing UK Super 10 Carabiner & 2x Blue Wild Country Xenon Carabiners (soon to be replaced with rappel rings)

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

For the tarp ridgeline I used to have a thin elastic tied between the two ends that hook into the prussicks. The material was similar to the hammock side tieouts & worked pretty well.

At some point I evolved into a larger tarp that I deploy separately, not connected to the hammock and without a ridgeline.

For the caribiner setup, you can get away with one of the climbing rated biners per side. The adjustability derives from being able to clip into varying loops in the Atlas straps. I ran that setup for a while and only switched to save weight.

I personally stay away from the rap rings as they can damage ropes

If I started over today with a stock HH I would get the bigger hex tarp and hang it separate. Then hang the hammock with the stock ropes and tree huggers by tying a Beckett Hitch on the free loop of the hugger, near the tree.

At the most moment I have the larger HH Hex fly attached to the prusik knots and then wrapped it around the hammock before sliding the snakeskins over it... works well, but I think separate deployment would be ideal

& I think I'll have to have a look into using either a separate/continuous ridge line or bungee ridge line tied in

I think im definitely going to invest in the Atlas straps for the adjustability.. and we'll have a play around with the single carabiner setup (weight saving I suppose)

    Cool

I have the larger hex tarp inside my snakeskins by itself and love it. Hang the tarp and take my time.
Using the standard lines that came with the tarp but Kanga Python straps and caribiners attached to the heavy lines on the HH asym.
I was going to replace the stock end lines with loops per a video on YouTube but...chickened out and just tied the biner 3-5" from the gathered ends.

I use a few feet of 550 para cord with prusiks tied to each tree above the hammock straps. Imagine a ridge line without the middle, works great and gives you some flexibility to adjust the tarp, light weight. Connect the tarp to the prusik via a toggle or S biner.

I myself use the dutchware kit. My preference is to have the tarp up high so I dont feel cramped. After all, I am out there for the space.

If you use a cinch buckle system, you use less strap and only need one carabiner.
