Nice to see everyone and meet some new folks. I regret not sliding across the high line , maybe next time.

What a wonderful hang to kick off hammocking season, at least for me since I don't hang in the cold . It was great to see the usual people again and meet friendly new hangers. This really is a great community of some of the nicest people, and this weekend was filled with some much-needed time in the woods. As usual, thanks is in order:
- Thanks to Tim and Raiff for organizing this hang. It was orchestrated very well so that everyone could get the most out of it (which I'm fairly certain they did).
- Thanks to John for making sure Chaaaz had the necessary provisions when Francois failed to live up to his duties as gear-finder. Also, thanks for encouraging me to do something I didn't think I could do after almost a decade. I didn't collapse on the run and I was super proud that I pushed myself to keep going, and I really appreciate your patience (and not leaving me on the side of the road).
- Thanks to Roger for giving the map & compass class! It was so interesting and I learned a lot! Now my next piece of gear will be a really nice compass with a base plate. You'll have to give an intermediate class the next time as we learn more!
- Thanks to Tim for providing me with some beautiful green wood (even though you forgot your spoon-carving kit).
- Thanks to Raiff for teaching me how to use a hatchet to start making the spoon, despite my fear of tools with a blade. The gentle reminders about technique and keeping my fingers in a certain place (so I didn't chop them off) were very helpful.
- Thanks to Dave for actually bringing and making the steak tips! They were excellent.
- Thanks to Chaaaz for being good about wearing your knee brace all weekend and staying off your knee so that it can heal and you can come to future hangs. I told Mom I'd take care of you on these hangs, remember?
Lastly, thanks to everyone for great company, conversations, and laughs. Everything you all do goes towards making and keeping these hangs as special as they are. I actually didn't even take many pictures this time because I was so busy doing different activities. I already can't wait for the next hang and even more shenanigans.
Ewok: Mischievous but cute, and deep down just really likes to help people.

I would say the hang inspired me to make some spoons. I pretty much stuck to spatulas like my grandfather made previously. Well, backpacking/tasting spoons are fun to make!!
