Beware --- Thermarest Hammock House Wildly Out of Weight and Length Specifications

The blurb stated 10.333 feet. It is actually 9 feet 3".

The blurb stated 1.66 kg. Its closer to 1.93 kilos.

This is also confirmed on a review at TrailSpace.

This is grossly misrepresenting a product.

I emailed them to let them know over 10 days ago and still have not had a reply. They have since removed the specifications from their website.

I had to resort to UCR's and softshackles plus lighter stuff sacks to get the whole system down to about 1480 grams.

Now the product is exceptionally built, but I based my purchase specifically on weight and length. The fact that they ignored me speaks for itself.

I'm pretty disgusted to be fair and did not expect this sort of business from one of the market leaders.

So if you are looking to purchase this system then please take into consideration my findings and lack of aftersales care.

And that's why I'll never buy from large corporations when it comes to my backpacking gear. I can email Dutch or Hammock Gear and hear back from them that day.

That sucks though man. Thanks for the PSA

Same thing with the ENOs and Grand Trunks... they measure from the ends of the suspension that goes thru the gathered ends, not the hammock body. AND then include the length of the carabiners. ....10'4" ends up 9'6"

Its such a shame. They could have really made this system work even better.

The hammock is very comfortable but I can only imagine the comfort with an extra foot of length.

I got the whole system for £125 delivered so not all is bad.

I'll use it for when weight is not a primary consideration.

It is a great design. Just needs a few tweaks to be exceptional.

One thing for sure is I'll never ever purchase from them again.

Good job I have a sewing machine to help me keep busy.

No experience with this product....... And I won't.

But I have had nothing but excellent customer service from Cascade Designs, MSR, Thermarest, ETC.
I have dealt with them for years. Platypus replaced. Stove parts sent for free. Thermarest pads replaced, no questions asked.
I have a huge amount of their gear. I have the first MSR stove, Model 9, still works.

So, please .... even though the cottage vendors are the cat's meow, some big companies are good.

P.S. All my hammock gear is from Warbonnet, Arrowhead, 2QZQ, and Dutch.
    I collect vintage camp stoves.
    I roast coffee at home.

You paid over a hundred quid and got a hammock that's ten percent shorter than offered? I would call my credit card company and take it up with them: you didn't receive what you were promised.

I'm not going to jump on the pile but my Thermarest 20" wide air mattress is really only 18".
