EMERGENCY! WHOPPIE SLING KNOT SET IT :(

    HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!

I accidentally set a knot in on my whoopies and now I CANNOT get it off. I'm trying to replace my whoopie slings with a short continuous loop of amsteel but I CANNOT get this knot unset. It's snug against the fabric of my hennessey.

Get something pointy and work it into the knot, like the business end of a dart, or a knitting needle. It'll come free.

I've had to resort to a pair of fine pointed pliers or even vise grips before to work out particularly gruesome, hard as steel knots. Make sure to get a firm grip on just the amsteel to minimize fraying and to avoid inadvertently tearing the hammock fabric.

EMERGENCY! WHOPPIE SLING KNOT SET IT 😞

All tied up in knots eh?!?!
Once a knot is tight it can be tough or impossible, and or not worth the time and effort to remove.
Most knots when tight, have a rounded shape so that they take up the smallest space and the cord has traveled the shortest possible distance through the knot.
So here's the trick--change shape of knot from round-spherical to FLAT or pancake shaped. When you do this, the rope has to travel farther to get through the knot. When it travels farther--you have loosened your knot.
Flatten your knot with a rubber or wooden mallet. Or heel stomp your knot on concrete floor or on a flat rock. You might want to protect your knotted rope with a tee shirt on top and bottom of knot. A few taps or stomps might flatten your knot-----Now your knot might be loose enough to remove.
Good luck, and remember loud cursing helps,as well as a sharp knife; in case your knot turns on you.

Ball point pen of toothpick might help. If you're in the field, make yourself a toothpick if you that a knife.. Be patient and fix luck.

I am curious too. Dyneema doesn't ordinarily hold knots well. I'm assuming that it was just an overhand not in the "natural length" which has had force exerted on it. If not, you may be on to something.
