I'm in for Dolly Sods. Lots of good memories in DS, Otter Creek, Roaring Plains, Spruce Knob area, etc. Great place in the summer for kids, swimming holes, creek slides, blueberries, deer everywhere.

OK, looks like we have more than enough interest to set this thing in motion. If you have a preference on dates, post or PM. And then we'll put it to a vote to get it on the calendar.

I noted my preference on mileage. I'm wondering what others want to do. As stated prior, there are so many loops and sites, we could decide on campsite and people can hike into it on different paths. But I'm still interested in seeing what mileage people prefer on Sat. & Sunday.

Souinds like a great trip! I'm interested if the timing works out.

A few clickable previews for those who have never been there:

trees to hang from on top of the Sods as somewhat hard to come by:

And the ones that are there are the extra sticky variety:

    No shortage of rocks though!

Anyone ever seen this up there?
It was crazy eerie. That rock field was probably the size of a football field, and perfectly flat. And in the middle of the woods. And if you stomped, you could hear it reverberate, like it was hollow underneath. Did I mention it was a new moon that night?

This thread was just to guage interest in a DS hike. And there's definitely enough. I'm going to wait until about March to post a poll to pick a date, unless anyone thinks there is a reason to do it sooner. Leave the poll open for about 3 or 4 weeks. Then people can save the date as early as April.

The possible dates we would be voting on would be:

    Aug. 20-22 (Fri – Sun)
    Aug. 27-29 (Fri – Sun)
Sept. 4-6 (Labor Day: Sat.- Mon)
    Sept. 10-12 (Fri – Sun)

Lemme know if those are acceptable dates for a poll. I will be quiet now until March. Yeah, right.
