Stopping Rain Wicking On My New Hammock

My new hammock is an Outpost II. It has a simple suspension system. See picture link below. Will this buckle be sufficient at stopping any rain water that is tracking down the lightspeed strap?

Also, does applying waterproofing to straps and lines help in any way? Thanks!

Just larkshead a shoelace on each countinuous loop and you'll be right as rain. It's added insurance for barely any weight at all.

OK. Got it. Tie one on each side of the loop! Thanks.

How well does 550 cord compare to shoe laces?

If the cinch buckles are completely covered under your tarp, you should be fine. But adding a drip line (as mentioned above) is never a bad idea for added insurance

550 works but a shoe lace wicks better.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...

I am interested in why a shoelace versus 550? Is it about its wicking capability? If so, then I guess the type of shoelace would be important. Thanks!

I didn't even think about looping the end of my whoopie back over as a break. Nice tip, Shug!
