This forum is super helpful and I struck gold finding it online.
I just bought a serac hammock combo because it was cheap and I wanted to test the waters. I do however see this being an obsession the first time I try it.
There's a few good spots around where I live but I'm always open to camping with new people so if your close, give me a shout.
If anyone has any suggestions on the basics necessities for an overnight or 2 days hike I'd appreciate it.
Welcome to Hammock Forums. Depending on the weather you will need at a bare minimum the hammock, bottom insulation if the low is below 70°, top insulation, and a tarp. Then the normal hiking gear.
Welcome from Union County! A lot of Jersey hangers here. Group hangs in the Pine Barrens are common and fun - keep an eye on the Trip Planning forum and post in the trip thread if you need to borrow gear!

Hi and welcome to the forums! One piece of advice I received that proved very helpful, take along friends that hammock camp. This allows you to see other setups and try stuff out without the large investment.
