WA > Spokane > Car Camping

Hey all! I'm flying into Spokane in June and was wondering if anyone can recommend good car camping sites. I won't have enough time/equipment for backpacking, but don't wanna stay in a hotel.

The wedding will be just East of Spokane, so somewhere in that vicinity would be convenient. And of course, I need a place that's hammock friendly.

    Thanks in advance!!

The campground at Hawleys landing at Heyburn state park is extremely pleasant at the south end of lake coeur d'alene. North of town the little diamond KOA is excellent and hammock friendly. The KOA in Spokane valley is noisy and lacks any privacy if you must stay closer you could probably make any of the tent sites and many of the pull through sites work at Liberty lake county park which quiet and pleasant enough with a fantastic trailhead right there if you time for a dayhike.

I would love to be wrong but the last I heard Washington State Parks has a "do not hang anything from trees" rule. It could be at the discretion of the head Ranger or caretaker but call ahead to find out.

So, I chose Liberty Lake, and couldn't be happier! I called ahead and the camp host checked the sites to ensure there was a good hammock spot. There was a good site, but it's a pretty good span - lucky I brought the 15' straps!

Woke up early and hiked about 8 miles today, and it was fantastic! Since I was flying in, I didn't bring any cooking gear, so I had room for a backpacking chair which was awesome to have around the fire and on the day hike.

Thanks again for all the recommendations!!

    Happy Hammocking!!

I have never camped in a WA state park but that definitely sounds like something the west side would burden the entire state with. The state park mentioned above is in Idaho and they most certainly don't mind, I get complements from the Rangers everytime
