Multiple stakes for optimal holding power...and a bicycle

If I wanted to use my bike to hold up one end of the hammock, what would be the best way? I've tried running the hammock suspension through the saddle rails, and then down to the ground to be held with a few stakes, and it works...sometimes. Other times the stakes pull out and I end up with my bike landing on my face.

Is there an optimal way to use a bunch of stakes for maximum hold?

I have wondered this too. Seen it done with tarps, but... a hammock generally needs at least a little more height.

Don't have an answer for you but will be watching this thread!

If I raise the saddle of my bike as high as it can go it's just about high enough as long as I angle my hammock ridgeline up a bit.

I'm often in places where I can't find a suitable pair of trees, hence the need to find a solution with only one tree.

Around the 10 min mark he explains how to stake out the hammock. You may need to make the "V" longer or use more stakes depending on the type of soil.

Here's how one guy did it, although it's set up as a NICU and not hanging.

Thanks, that's really useful. I was on the same track as this guy, but he's given me some good tips.
