Where did you get those poles? This looks like a great thing to add to my extra wide winter tarp that I am making to do some side-by-side hanging with my niece.

This is where I found it and there are different diameters and aluminum and carbon. The link is to the .340 diameter aluminum which also have angle pieces too.

Another way to anchor a pole mod: The tips for the .340 poles fit snugly into the holes in the 1/2" Beasty Ds. Just add the Ds on the inside of your tie-out webbing.

If I'm making a tarp out of the RSBTR Silpoly XL (72"), about how wide should I make those spreader bars? 144 or longer?

Also, what line are you using with those linelocks?

144" is a good starting point, but it will depend on the actual finished width and where the Ds are located. You want it to fit snugly inside the tarp. I also incorporated a couple of strings into the ridgeline seam to secure the pole. With the pole in place and the doors closed it looks like a hanging dome tent. Pic # 4 shows this from the inside.

The cord is 3/32" marine dacron double braid line. I got it off ebay a while back, but I don't remember the seller. It's great utility cord. Lightweight, strong, UV resistant, untangles easily. I've had some outside in my hang spot for at least a couple of years now, and it's still strong and soft. It was pretty cheap too, about 40$ for 600'. Search the marine rope sellers.
