I second the use of a neck pillow and knee support (stuffsack with spare clothes).

Our you could go for the pillow/hat! LoL,

What length is your new hammock? I know you are not tall, but a 11' is not a huge weight penalty for increased comfort.

I use a barely inflated cocoon lumbar support pillow under my neck, inside a travel pillow case with lanyard to help keep in place. For backpacking I also use a sea to summit aero ultralight (or something like that) for under my knees. Both are light and compact in the pack. That said, air cushions are not the solution for everyone.

You may also find that a clews type of uq suspension or wookie uq will help alleviate side pressure from conventional primary suspension. With sensitive neck, back and knee issues some or all of these various solutions (together) can have an impact.

Okay, sounds like I need to try these things out

My current hammock is 11ft...it's a Dutch netless. I'm just upgrading to the slightly heavier 1.6 for less stretch

That should work. Be sure to report back on your impressions.

I think that you should also give dream -hammock a try. They can make you a hammock out of many cloth options, such as the robic xl which would provide great support for your back as long as you asym lie (head to one side, feet to the other at about a 35-45 degree angle from the head end to the foot end). The more side to side you lay the more comfortable for your condition I would imagine. They even have calculators you can try that will let you know the weight capacity of the options you choose (the higher the weight capacity, the flatter the lay).

As you are only a lightweight, a 1oz polyester would save you some weight, and have less stretch than a nylon.

I had thought about polyester but I've read the reports of static. I'd like to try one though.

I made a polyd 1.4 for one of my granddaughters. The static was horrendous. She'd get in and her hair would stand up like one of those fiber optic lamps. But this was indoors in the winter. I then made her a hyperd 1.6 and the poly has been unused since. My wife and I also found that it was hard on our necks due to so little (or no) give. We each got in it exactly once. That said, a lot of people like it.

Received my Hexon 1.6 today and did a brief test while avoiding the rain. I can already feel the difference in firmness and lay on my back...longer testing will have to wait until I get back from the UK in 5 weeks.
