    Opie,

What size of line and material (7/64-amsteel blue, etc...) do you use for the ASR?

(I'm guessing the size is smaller than 7/64, since that rating of strength is not needed )

I use 1.75mm zing it. It's fashioned in a whoopie configuration.

    Hey Opie,

After some thought, I think I'll get me some Zing-It (and maybe some Lash-It) to use for a ASR, tarp guy lines, etc... (Due to my lack of action, I missed out on the group buy earlier this year , so I'm probably going to buy from Redden Marine Supply, unless I come across a better source that can sell at least 150ft of each.)
I do wonder though... looking at photos of it, it doesn't look to be hollow (the Samson site calls it a "twine) so how have you made a WS with it? Do you "add" something to the ZI or is it hollow?

Its single braid just like the Amsteel Blue. SO yes, it is hollow.

You dont have as much room in the center of the line... And the Lash It is a much tighter weave than the Zing It. So youll need a smaller tool. OG turned me onto SS leader wire. I use .024 for the Zing It and .035 for the 7/64.

If you dont want to have to order the leader wire.. some 20 gauge picture hanging wire works too.

Thanks again Opie! You're very generous in the way you give out all the helpful info. Much appreciated!

Dialed in a Traveler with Opie whoopies on each end and an Opie Adjustable Ridgeline...every so sweet. It'll get another test this weekend in the Smokes along with the MacIX. Still no 1/3 bugnet but suddenly remembered the Unsponsored Sock! The hammmock sock works perfect with the adjustable ridgeline, gives me the extra 5-8F in the Traveler and will act as my bugnet until I can find a 1/3 model.
Brand new digital says Traveler+whoopies+ADR+sock=1 pound 5.4 ounces

Thats pretty good. The ability to work with a sock is also a bonus.

Lash-It is much cheaper at West Marine. A 600' spool is $44. Redden charges $85. I wish they had Zing-It.
