    Robic 7D questions

Has anybody used 7D robic to make a double layer hammock?
Or used a combination of 7D robic plus .66 taffetta for a double layer.

Also how about a tarp from 7D Robic? I read where one person built a tarp, but had not reported on how it worked.

What is the PU rating on this 7D Robic fabric? I assume it is low.

    Thanks

Not sure if the robic is the same as the one you listed, but dream-hammock is currently making me two sparrow hammocks that are double layer using the robic xl cloth. I can let you know what they are like after I receive them (I believe they are close to 8 weeks away from being finished however).

I made a single layer Robic 7d- hated it. It was stiff and clammy.
To be fair this is not recommended at all.

I don't think the pure robic makes a nice fabric for hammocks. The Robic 1.0 I don't like a ton either- but it does make a very nice double layer IMO.
I love the Hybrid 1.7, very much looking forward to the Robic 1.0 replacement (which I expect will be a 1.1 ish hybrid)

I would also welcome a .7 (or .8) hybrid for UL hammocks if others are interested in that.

I do like Membrane 10... I've made a few as a single layer. So I would think that's your better bet for a UL double of the choices available. Here's my single:

As a tarp- I didn't try it. To be blunt... if I'm spending that money I will use the .93 ounce membrane sil. I waited for a remnant to come up and made up the hammock... I'll stick with M10.
The Robic is a pretty specialized fabric- good for splash bivies, cowboy camping quilts, etc. It could make an okay fair weather tarp but if you're really going for weight I'd spring for cuben.
The robic 7d is for areas where you want some breathability... it might make an ideal western weather insulated bivy to be used with a minimalist tarp. But that's about it.

How do you like the feel of Membrane 10? Is it too stretchy? I thought about 1.0 HyperD but since am 130lbs and like going ultralight, am thinking about Membrane...

BTW, dont you think amsteel is overkill in combination with Membrane? Am referring to pics in your links...

Wonder how the Ventum Ripstop from zpacks would do for a hammock.
