    Thread Injector Problems

I am working on my first DIY sewing project, and I am having some thread injector problems. I am attempting to make some suspension straps out of 1" tubular webbing. I got a lesson my secretary who is a skilled seamstress and things were going well. Than we ran into some bobbin issues and she wasn't familiar with my machine and after we changed bobbins I/we had nothing but trouble. After a few passes forward and reverse the bobbin thread bunches up and binds up. Here are a few pics, I have a singer that is my Mom's so I don't know the exact model.

It is set for a straight stitch for the actual sewing the pic is just from the other night. Stitch spacing is set around 3 on the dial.

I have raised the bobbin as per the instructions but am just having some problems figuring this all out.

The center pic with the rat's nest is not a bobbin issue. It is almost certainly the top thread tension that needs to be adjusted. I would hazard a guess the spool thread is not threaded correctly. My first suggestion would be to pull the spool off and thread the machine from scratch. (This is the equivalent of rebooting a computer and will often solve the problem.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Thanks, I will have to give it a try and report back. Ramblinrev any word on if you are going to make it down to the PB Hang. Hope all are feeling better after the crash.

    Edit:

Rethreading the machine and adjusting thread tension worked out. Thanks Rev.

I agree, when I have the same problem with my machine, I start over, using the manual step by step----rewind the bobbin etc. Especially if im in a hurry and /or tired that day, I problably did somthing wrong. Take a break, and when your ready start over. (or you can do what I usually do, keep going, cuss alot, get really frustrated, and make a royal mess out of things and finally give up, only to come back later and realize I did somthing stupid when I threaded the machine!) Good luck!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

The 'Rev told me the same thing: Tighten the top tension, and it should fix the problem... I had the exact issue.

Also, make sure you're using a heavier needle... (If you haven't already. buy an assorted pack of needles, they're cheap... The one for "denim" is what I used (after the Rev fixed me) and I had better success...

yeah - try changing your needles also - on my machine, the slightest imperfection in the needle or mis-threading will make the coolest looking rats nests on the bottom of the fabric.

I re-threaded the machine and adjusted thread tension. I had no problems after that other than forgetting to lower the foot. That resulted in a small rats nest on the bottom of the strap. I have to redo that strap so that it looks clean but it was for like three stitches and almost at the end. No excuse though but I was tired and my frustration was mounting so I finished the last few stitches and called it a night. Thanks for the quick and useful advice.
