    Bugnets for Minnesotans

Many people think that the state bird of Minnesota is the loon, and youd be partially right, the other state bird is the mosquito.I have been looking at a ton of nets, and have even thought of doing a DIY net. I have also been really considering having a net made from the noseeum material. A couple things I am thinking about and hoping to get some help to help me in making my decision. First off, I have a TTTM Double hammock. A couple of the problems I understand with the Noseeum material is that because of the small holes and how good it is at keeping all of the bugs out, it also keeps out any breezes that may be blowing and thus can make for a rather hot atmosphere in your hammock. There are many a time that I just want to lay in my hammock and would like to be, at the very least mosquito free.

Will the regular mosquito (not noseeum material) be enough? I mean, from what I understand, its going to allow the air to pass through it more and will keep out the mosquitoes , but is it good enough? I know we have ticks and stuff. Will the regular netting keep ticks out as well? To me, my number 1 concern of course is those freaking mosquitoes. If it will keep ticks out, that's an added bonus. But it seems to me, that those would be the only 2 more common bugs that should be avoided as much as possible.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

It's my understanding that unless you actually live in a area with noseeums then the noseeum fabric is overkill. Straight mosquito netting should be sufficient, even more so it you treat it with permethrin (especially for the ticks). Noseeum does hold in the heat quite a bit for sure, how much better mosquito net breaths is a mystery to me, but I don't think it'd be too risky to go with mosquito netting over noseeum.
    Good luck,

Ticks don't fly, so seems like you should be fine as far as they go!

Gonna be a bit stuffy on a hot day/night no matter which you use. A small fan works wonders to move some air. https://www.walmart.com/ip/O2Cool-Ca...pUUKT_kcVED2a0

The no see um season is quite short compared to mosquitoes which set up shop for awhile but I'd agree with others, if it's hot enough up here to make a difference not a lot you can do about it breeze or no. Unless you use Shug's suggestion of a small fan. I'd keep focused on bug prevention.

Thank you all for your input. That helped a lot to clear up some of that.

Shug, I love the idea about a small fan. I'll definitely be looking into that option

I actually was planning on getting a bottle of permethrin to spray on a few things, bug net included.

If noseums are not a concern you can use Tulle to make the bugnet. I made a modified Fronky-style bug net from Tulle. It weighs 2oz and let the air flow very well. I only have to deal with mosquitoes and the occasional tick. It keeps flies, mosquitoes, and all other type bugs in our area out just fine.
