    Hello from Michigan

Hello from Livonia, Michigan. I'm new to real hammocks, but I've been sleeping in makeshift ones, on and off, for a few years. I just bought an Eno Doublenest and am trying to make the transition to sleeping in it full time and to get rid of my bed. Unfortunately, I live with people who prefer the house to be ice cold, so I need to invest in an underquilt so my back and butt don't freeze completely through.

Looking to learn from the seasoned hangers here. Thank you for allowing me into your community.

Welcome to Hammock Forums and let us know if you have any questions. You'll need some insulation in any temps below around 70 so you should put a pad or quilt on your shopping list.

Welcome from northern Oakland County. Years ago I worked down in your area and remember going to lunch at the Lakepoint Yacht Club and Shelly's Chicken Emporium. Lots of Michigan hangers on the forum so be on lookout for a group hang. Enjoy your stay!

Welcome from Northern Arkansas! I started out in an ENO and it fueled this addiction I have with Hammock camping! A good UQ will be a great addition to your gear! Enjoy your adventures!

I'm hosting a hang in Michigan in July! It would be awesome to have you join us!!!!

I'm so excited about it, I made a website for it: https://karlawithak.wixsite.com/inhaleexhale

It will be in Hale, Michigan at a private campground on July 7-9.

Here's the thread with any discussion: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...MI-gt-July-7-9

Let me know if you have any questions. It'd be great to meet you and have you check out everybody's set ups.

I see no reason you could not sleep fulltime in your hammock! For the past month straight, I have slept in a gathered end double hammock and sleep great. As others are saying, you will need to look into and invest in some hammock insulation...and there are a lot of options depending on budget and what not. I use a 3-season Arrowhead Jarbridge, $100, and it works great. Down underquilts will cost more, be even warmer, and pack smaller, but not sure if any of those benefits are useful to you in your situation. Good luck, welcome to the hang.
