    Dyneema Netting ?

I am curious if anyone had ever used Dyneema netting? I see it is used for lots of things from trampoline decks on yachts to baseball backstops.

Im fooling with a very warm weather hammock and since the smallest 8X10 piece I can find cost $350 I figure I would ask around before I spend money:

What are you hoping to gain from it over regular netting? Or are you planning to use the netting as the hammock body?

I've never heard about it on this forum. I assume it's a. hard to find and b. the weight savings over noseeum will be infinitesimal for the huge price of dyneema.

Looks like he's planning to use it for the hammock body with the thought that netting will be cooler to lay on than solid fabric.

The opening size and "string" diameter probably have an effect on comfort. The Nylon string net hammocks were a real pain to use. Bare skin ended up with a waffle pattern imprint and any corners (pockets, belt loops, etc) on clothing, buttons, etc. got caught in the netting and made repositioning your body extremely difficult.

What's the weight of this netting? I'd find it hard to justify any weight saving over a 1.0 or 1.1 oz fabric hammock at that price.

I have a small piece from a test run that Dyneema did. I'd have to check the specs, but I don't think it's lighter than 1.0 osy or anything. The appeal is way superior durability.

On top of the that, the cost was more than cuben fiber. Just not sure how much we could sell at $45 /yd :/.
