Excited. Off on a 5 day thru hike on BRT in Northern MN. Runs through the BWCA.
    Permit secured.
Hiking with Alex, Eric and Jonah. All in their 20s. The old man and the boys.
    Bunkhouse tonight.....http://clearwaterhistoriclodge.com/bunkhouse-three/
Hit the trail in the AM.
Cool-ish weather and rain. I'm giddy.
Hoping to not go to ground but prepared too to allow the others to hang. Will make good video being a whiner but also seeing how it would work out. More than likely won't have too though.

Ah man, excellent trip. I'll pray to the gods for a low bug population for ya'll. Have a great hike with the boys!

    dumb question!

why not take the Amok as a potential ground setup then? it seems way more....groundable (is that a word? if not, I claim it as my own)

Thanks, Shug! Glad to know I won't be left to the skeeters of I can't find some hammockable trees.

Take crafting tiggerz no ground trekking poles with you

I saw your review of the no-ground trekking pole from crafting tigger, this sounds like a great chance to swap out your trekking poles and try out the double rather than the single pole idea.

Pad from pack, thermarest sit pad, laying on UQ in hammock. Under hammock is Packa rain jacket, ULA rain kilt, small plastic I always carry.
Hammock sits on ground...poles hold the ends up.
Not to bad. Doable. Plenty of face space. Easy to zip in.
Have a trip coming and the possibility exsists of maybe having to take one for the team and go to ground. Best to practice getting ready.
Using my DIY Blackcrow tarp. 11' ridgeline and 6 feet across.
