    eBay Silnylon

    http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Digital-Camo...#ht_1882wt_921

He refers to it as 1.6oz but 70 denier so I am guessing this is what we would call 1.9. Too heavy for a tarp? Trying to tackle my first real DIY project and I'm not really confidant with what I should choose for fabric. But the price of this is pretty hard to pass up vs almost $10 a yard at some of the speciality sites.

    Thoughts?

We have talked about these guys a little bit once or twice before, keep in mind a couple things when looking at fabrics, this is not sil, it is a polyurethane coating that is not counted in the fabric weight. So it will be closer to 3-5 oz a yard most likely the 1.? is before the coating is added. Second they charge $6.99 shipping for the first yard and another dollar for each yard after that, so the shipping cost can quickly offset any savings on the fabric. If you are looking for Sil on the cheap check with Noah Lamport, they sell Sil seconds for $3.00 a yard and most folks that have ordered from them have been happy with the quality even as seconds.

I don't think that is silnylon. It just says it is waterproof.

I got 10 yards from this guy of the exact stuff.
    Plan to make a tarp.
the material just got here about 2 - 3 days ago

there is the make offer button that I used & offered $3 per yard

so far I took a corner of it & held it under the shower
    seemed to be ok.

I will post feedback once I get the tarp done

Funny you should ask. I finished the tarp below from the same material yesterday. I put it up in the backyard and it has poured all night. Nice & dry. I plan on taking some more pics next weekend.

11'x10 hex cat cut. I have not weighed it yet but expect it to be around 32 oz. I made it use as a knock around tarp for testing hammocks and when we hang out on our property. Too heavy for backpacking but will be very durable.

I think you just cut & paste from the other thread At least your are consistent with your feedback from both threads.

Well, that certainly answers my questions about if it is heavy or not. You did a great job on that tarp though. Hope my first project is have as nice.
