Different length hammocks - tandem style

I am the proud owner of the new Beetle Buckles. My son is now old enough to ask incessantly to go camping in a hammock (3.5 ys old). I have passed my Beyer of Maine on to him, since I DIY'd my own 10.5' Hexon 1.7. The BOM is shorter by a couple of feet, so im assuming the buckles wont line up for the spreader bar. The different lengths may cause them to center differently.

Has anyone tried hanging tandem two different length hammocks? Any issues or tips for doing so?

As I type this, I'm thinking that adding a CL long enough to the BOM to make up the difference in length would be the fix. I'd be, essentially, lengthening the hammock this way.

What are your thoughts or experience on the matter?

It can be done successfully, at least if the two hammocks are close in length. I've hung a 9-foot junior-sized hammock next to my 11-footer with a spreader bar under one tarp. You must align the head ends as precisely as you can (where the bar is). The bigger the difference in size, the more you will have to play with the suspension heights angles on the foot end, which may also mandate that you pitch the tarp higher than you might otherwise. HTH.

Thanks kitsacowboy and DannyII. My hammocks are about 2.5' difference in length, which may still work. My son and I typically only camp or hike in good weather, so pitching the tarp high is preferred. It's mostly used to keep the sun, dew, and bird and tree trash off of us.

I love diy projects, and was already planning on Danny's CPVC-T spreader pole project. Looks like a great design.

If worse comes to worse, I'll just have to make my son another hammock. 😏
