One thing I keep noticing on CouchSurfing and WarmShowers is the lack of hosts in several places throughout the Southwest, and often none at all for 2 days or more of bike touring distance along the best riding routes through Texas. Several of the no-hosts areas are also lacking in state parks and other camping facilities, so there's really no cheaper option than a motel (and frankly a motel where I can't take the bike in the room is worse than rolling out a bivy alongside a back road where I can at least be right there with it) or asking around at local cafes or whatnot to find someone willing to let a touring rider camp in their back yard or field.

Maybe HammockForums should have a "YardSurfing" app, where we can offer the use of a couple trees (or a stand in the garage for deluxe accommodations, or whatever) to travelers passing through. It could probably even be coordinated through some other camping-related sites to coordinate for tent campers as well.
