    Hello From the Bluegrass

New guy here just trying to learn as much as possible from the experienced folks here-- and hopefully share if I have suitable experience/information that can help someone else like I've been helped.

I'm a middle-aged guy that loves the outdoors and getting away from it all (or most of it). Been camping since I was a youngster but exclusively in a tent. Got a little tired of lugging all the weight needed for that style of camping so I found this excellent repository for most all things hammock.
Would like to incorporate bushcrafting in with the more modern fabrics while working to keep pack weight down.

Thanks in advance for your kind help!
    Mark

Hammocking can be as light and simple, or ultralight and complicated as you want--it is like anything, easy to get started, and if wanted, you can keep fiddling with things forever. Enjoy the journey! Welcome and hang on!

Hello Mark, welcome to the forum.... I would like to invite you to a group hang we have twice a year.. Once in spring and again in the fall.. Great way to meet people with the same interest and to learn about hammock camping and different setups.. Most of us are middle aged guys and gals.. With some scouting backgrounds. Children and animals always welcome to every campout... We hold the campouts in Louisville in the Jefferson Memorial Forest.. We reserve a campsite that will hold 30 hammocks easily amongst tall pine trees.. This place over looks city of Louisville.. There is a small fee but with the turn outs it averages a couple of dollars for the weekend... We do a Mountain man breakfast Saturday morning and a potluck Saturday Night neither are required to participate in.. But we do have a sign up sheet on the thread at the beginning page, if you do decide to eat the breakfast or dinner to donate a food item.. Also to let us know how many will be attending.. Like i said all are welcome ... It is a car camping type deal so bring the kitchen sink... Plenty of parking.. Some do bring beer or bourbon for adult beverages around the campfire at night.. Nothing too crazy lol.. Anyway enough rambling on... The thread Is called Jefferson memorial forest and i believe its the weekend before Halloween.. Hope you can make it
