NC, Hot Springs Fall Hang, Sept 29-30, OCT 1

DATE CHANGE FROM ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT: SITE 413 was not available for original date.

Announcing the fall Hot Springs Hang, September 29, 30, OCT 1, Hot Springs Campground, Hot Springs, NC. Since the Grayson Fall Festival is cancelled due to the group site being unavailable, it is time to revive the Hot Springs event. Would appreciate some help with hosting the event. I will try and reserve the traditional central location on the river, which I think was site 413. Need to check with HB about that. This is a family friendly event. Traditional hot dog dinner and Saturday night.
All the regular fun things to do - go to the spa for a relaxing soak and massage, lollygagging, hike the AT, wander around downtown for a beer or three, fishing on the French Broad (NC License required), kayaking/canoeing, visit Max Patch mountain, and for the really adventurous - take the AT to Bluff Mountain. Did I mention "lollygagging"?????

    More to follow:

ADDING MORE STUFF from previous threads (2015). Thanks Loki for all the details.

The usual site has been secured,(#413), This will be the site for our group activities; Morning coffee Kvetch, Dutch-oven cooking, fireside chats, Gear lore, Ladderball, general Lollygagging, and our famous Saturday Night Hot Dog Supper. Hiking, fly-fishing, kayaking/canoeing are available all day (bring your gear or rent from local outfitters),

Tent sites, RV sites, and cabins ! Cabins are available to rent, just ask the campground people when you call.

So, right now, before all the other good campsites are reserved, it's a good idea to call up the Hot Springs campground and reserve one for yourself and your friends, 828-622-7676. Did I mention... right now ?? http://nchotsprings.com/nc-hot-springs-resort-lodging/

Thanks Pappy. Spreadsheet updated to Sept 29,30 and Oct 1

Nearest primitive sites for hammocks are 411, 409, and 407. Going up river from 413 are RV sites until you reach the upper primitive sites for tents/hammocks. Check the the spa's website in post 1 for a map of the entire campground. There are other "group" sites further up river in the primitive area if you care to camp as groups. The Hot Springs registration folks will ask how many people in your party.

Cool how many hammocks can fit on the above three sites. Are stands needed?

Stands are not needed but would come in handy if you have them. Not sure how many can hang on those 3 sites but I know we had 8 to 10 folks down that end last time I was there.
Site 413 (home base) can handle several hammocks. I put in for 6 folks on that site. Anyone is welcome partake of the trees there. First come, first served.

I had 411 last time. We had 3 hammocks (trees) and 4 stands (Detail Man and crew).
