    Tandem hanging...The Chimera

I've seen a few posts about tandem hanging lately, so I thought I'd share what my wife and I are currently hanging in. It is essentially 2 - 11' hammocks with a divider fabric sewn in between. This divider has pockets for organizing gear. One zippered bugnet encloses both hammocks. You can enter/exit either side. I call it the Chimera.

It uses a spreader bar at the head end and the width of tree at the foot end to keep the hammocks spread apart.

The bugnet stows up in the head end in a pocket. Each hammock has a Ridgeline organizer which are connected with a piece of pocket mesh for extra storage...My luci lantern fits perfect there.

I have made a tarp and hammock stand for it as well....Still kinda hammering out some bugs with the tarp. Overall though it is a pretty cool setup. Now my wife can cuddle with me before bedtime. Lol.

    Any questions just ask. 😀

Very nicely done. Both Dutch and Dream Hammock have been working on similar concept prototypes for production (i.e., kits to modify pairs of Chameleons and Ravens, respectively...).

I like the look of your "prototarp" a lot so far, and I hope to see you continue to develop it.

Ohhh. Very nice. I had my first tandem hang with my niece recently and I am now quite curious about this as a concept. Well done, and I love your choice of color.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

I tried the bar with my daughter and two hammocks (different lengths though). We found that I rocked her way too much, how is the sleeping in this set up?

Ryan and Pam had this hammock rig at the MI fall hang last year, and like everything Ryan makes, it was top shelf all the way. Really nicely executed, keep up the innovation.
    Good luck,

Not too bad. The wider the tree trunks, the less rocking you get, especially using only one spreader bar. T On the stand, there is almost none. Feet are a bit squeezed on the stand though.

Thanks Red!...The prototype I had at the hang last year will probably end up in the raffle this year.
