20 D silpoly BMJ question...

I thought I read somewhere that you don't need self tensioning guy lines with silpoly...but since that's what I had on my maccat standard that's what I used and it seem to work fine...so my question is do you need self tensioning guy line and if not does it matter if you use them?

You probably don't really need them, but it probably doesn't matter if you have them.

I never used them on silnylon MJ or superfly. Certainly not on my silpoly MJ. But I agree it won't hurt. I just never liked the "soft" setup...I like it snare-drum tight.

I set up a new 20D silpoly superfly in a light rain two weeks ago with tensioner: never saw any stretch in the tarp, tensioners were exactly the same the next day.
So they might be overkill, but that's kind of what I do.
